Each student in this class is catered to individually on their own journey and their own skill level.
Open to the beginner and the advanced painter who is looking for a challenge; the instructor acts as a supportive guide to help you achieve your vision.
Students can explore oil, acrylic, watercolor and more through this course.
Oil Supplies: If working in oil it is recommended you purchase or bring the following: Linseed Oil Turpenoid Palette knife (diamond shape ideally) Palette with palette paper Oil Paints: - ultramarine blue - raw umber - alizarin crimson - lemon yellow - yellow ochre - burnt sienna - titanium white Canvases/canvas boards: assorted sizes no smaller than 11x14” and no larger than 40x60” brushes: an assortment of straight edge and round/filbert brushes (the key is to have some large and small ones) rags/paper towels Drawing Media Supplies: If working in drawing media it is recommended you bring the following: Pastel Drawing Set – Assorted Colors Vine Charcoal – Medium and Soft only Compressed Charcoal Assortment of Drawing Pencils – HB – 4B Conte Crayons – assortment Bristol pad Acrylic Supplies: If working in Acrylic it is recommended you bring the following: Gloss Medium Retarder Medium Acrylic Paints: - ultramarine blue - raw umber - alizarin crimson - lemon yellow - yellow ochre - burnt sienna - titanium white Canvases/canvas boards: assorted sizes no smaller than 11x14” and no larger than 40x60” brushes: an assortment of straight edge and round/filbert brushes (the key is to have some large and small ones) rags/paper towels
The Executive Director of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, Andrew Rodgers, is an arts administrator, arts educator, and artist. He sits on the New Orleans Arts Council and is a passionate champion of the arts who has worked with arts institutions throughout the Gulf Coast to improve the lives of people through the arts.
