This beginning level course in drawing designed to develop and expand one's visualawareness and perceptual acuity through the process of drawing from observation ofrectilinear or organic forms. The course introduces and reviews drawing fundamentals.The goal is to acquire conceptual and technical skills necessary to translate threedimensional forms to a two-dimensional surface. Students learn methods for sensitivelydescribing objects in terms of line, shape, volume, cross-contour, proportion, light logic,perspective, and compositional space. Also covered are fundamentals of pictorialspace structure, aesthetics, content, and draftsmanship using still life and natural forms,working with pencil and charcoal.

Arturo Perez has has been teaching for over 25 years (K-12 to adults to seniors), has a Bachelor Degree from UNO in both Fine Arts and Science, has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, and also volunteers at WWOZ, Creative Arts New Orleans (CANO) and Creative Industries. He continues to be involved in art and dance education teaching classes, workshops, private lessons, exhibiting work, and performing.
