“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. --Anaïs Nin” In this course we will explore and develop our individual creative practices in two ways: (1) During the first hour of class, we will work through the exercises in The Artist's Way, a twelve-week program designed to identify roadblocks to creativity and open the way to a fulfilling, creative life. (2) Students will spend the rest of class in individualized, guided exploration of creative writing, drawing, or both (student's choice).
In the second half of the semester, students will commit to bringing a larger project of their own choice to completion (such as a short story, collection of poems, a series of drawings or paintings), with individual guidance from the instructor.
This course is suitable for all skill levels; no prior drawing or creative writing experience is needed.
