Sculpt a “Lovers Eye”
Lover’s eye portraiture was popular in the late 1700s and early 1800s when stylish aristocrats often wore small portraits depicting the eye of their spouse, lover, or children. These eye portraits were often fashioned as brooches, pendants, and lockets with decorative frames.
In this class we will sculpt the eye of a loved one - friend, family or yourself, from photographs and create a decorative clay framing around it. Through demonstration and an anatomy lesson, students will gain an understanding of the structure of an eye and how to sculpt it. Then let your imagination roam free to create a fanciful frame.
Work will be fired and the final day will focus on finishing in glazes or paint

Students supply their own reference photos. Suggestions for the best types of photos will be sent to students prior to the class. Photos can be on a digital device.

Supplies:
25 lb bag of clay included
Clay tools will be available for use during class
Photos of your chosen subject (digital or printed)
