This 12-week course is designed for students aged 12-17 who are ready forstructured, formal art training that they may not be getting in a regular classroom.
Students who intend to apply to an institution like NOCCA or to a college art program should complete this class with a number of finished works suitable for presentation in a portfolio, but any student who is serious about improving their artistic skills is welcome.
This course is focused on strengthening student's knowledge of the core fundamentals of two-dimensional art such as line, form, value, color theory, space, and composition. Projects will be mainly centered around painting and drawing from observation, and students will work in a variety of media (pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylic and watercolor). Assignments will be designed to teach essential skills while allowing students to develop their own personal art styles.
All necessary art supplies and materials are included with this course.
