Magic Realism (Painting) is a 13-week studio course designed to introduce students to the visual language of Magic Realism through painting, literature, and personal storytelling.

Students will learn what defines Magic Realism, explore key artists and writers from the movement, and study how realism and the extraordinary coexist within a single image.

Throughout the semester, students will develop technical painting skills in oil or acrylic, strengthen their understanding of symbolism and narrative, and learn how to visually defend their creative choices using artistic and literary references.

The course culminates in a final Magic Realism painting based on their personal narrative and research, supported by a written artist statement and class presentation.
