Have you ever wondered how stone carvings are made? Now's your chance to dive in and learn first hand.

Sculpt a stone sculpture like the prehistoric Venus Figures, but of your own vision.

Working from sketches and printed references, students will learn the basics of stone carving, a reductive technique, using Italian alabaster. Carving figures that are similar to the Paleolithic Venus figurines will help students learn the steps to achieve a finished stone sculpture.

This process includes:

  • Blocking out the form
  • Refining the form
  • Sanding
  • Polishing and sealing the final sculpture
