Intro to Modeling the Figure in Clay - H. Grace Boyle

Students will learn how to model the human figure in water-based clay.

Working from a live model, skills of observation and translation into the clay will be strengthened.

Emphasis will be put on:

• Anatomical accuracy
• Proportion
• Gesture

There will be ongoing discussion of the role of the human figure in art, both historically and in contemporary works.

The final sculpture will be fired and cold finished (painted) or glazed.
