Exploring Pottery on the Wheel - Reid Nicholls


This class meets twice a week, Monday and Wednesday, for 3 weeks.
This 3-week, 6-class beginner wheel course offers a supportive and approachable introduction to throwing on the pottery wheel.
Students will learn the fundamentals of working with clay, including:
- Centering
- Opening
- Pulling walls
- Shaping simple forms
Students will also become familiar with:
- Basic tools
- Studio practices
Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-on-one instruction, students will build confidence and comfort at the wheel at their own pace.
The class emphasizes learning through:
- Practice
- Exploration
This course provides a solid foundation for continued study in:
- Wheel throwing
- Other ceramics courses
Supplies
- There is a $50 fee included in the tuition for materials
Materials include:
- One bag of clay
- Tools
- Glazes
- Use of wheel and kiln
- Additional studio materials

Reid Nicholls
Reid Nicholls is a ceramic artist and sculptor whose body of work uses symbolic imagery paired with figurative elements to create abstract forms that are hand-built and wheel thrown.
