Ceramic Sculpture and Handbuilding (11-14 yrs) - Ren Watson

Explore the possibilities of clay through six weeks of hands-on ceramic studio practice. Students will learn foundational handbuilding techniques, including slab construction, coil building, and pinch forms. They will develop the skills to create both functional pottery and expressive sculptural work. Demonstrations will introduce new processes each week, with individualized guidance to help students refine technique and bring their own creative ideas to life.
Whether you're new to ceramics or have previous experience, projects are designed to meet students where they are and encourage continued artistic growth. The final class will focus on glazing and surface design, after which all work will be kiln-fired for a final time. Families will receive pickup information once finished pieces are ready to take home.
*Please bring a sketchbook and preferred drawing utensil to work out your ideas and an apron
