Beginning Photography: SLR & Mirrorless Cameras - Richard Vallon

Part 1: Beginning Photography — SLR and Mirrorless Cameras
Please bring your SLR or mirrorless camera and any lenses you may have. Make sure you have a good battery and that it is fully charged before class.
Classes are small so students can participate and request information specific to their interests, such as landscapes, portraits, or action photography.
We Will Cover
- The basic parts of the camera and their functions
- Camera care, memory cards, batteries, and changing lenses
- The various important automatic modes:
- P mode — allows brighter or darker exposures
- A (Aperture Priority) — allows you to blur backgrounds when using tele lenses
- S mode — for action images or night photography
- The most frequently used and less expensive kit lenses, including normal zooms and tele zooms
- How to take images using lovely window light, just like the Old Masters
Prerequisites: None
Supplies
Please bring the camera you have. Advice will be given personally for those who want to purchase their first SLR or mirrorless camera or upgrade the equipment they have.
*Class may be extended another 3 weeks if needed or desired by students. The instructor will discuss this on the last day of class.*
