Please bring - your SLR or Mirrorless cameras and any lenses you may have. Make sure you have a good battery and that is charged before the class.

Classes are small so students can participate and request information specific to their interests- landscapes, portraits, action etc.

We will cover-

the basic parts of the camera and their functions. Camera care, memory cards, batteries and changing lenses.

Learn the various important automatic modes from P- which allows brighter or darker exposures to (A) aperture priority which allows you to blur backgrounds when using tele lenses. Learn (S) mode for action images or night photography.

the most frequently used and less expensive kit lenses - normal zooms and tele zooms.

Learn to take images by lovely window light just like the old masters.

Prerequisites: None

Supplies: Please bring the camera you have. Advice will be given personally for those who want to purchase their first SLR/Mirrorless camera or to upgrade the equipment they have.

RE: Film cameras:

Although film photography is not the emphasis in this class, most of the camera controls I’ll discuss apply to film cameras too, so students using a film camera are also invited to the class. Note- most film users have their films scanned- and at this point the image is digital- so all of the post processing instruction applies here.

I taught film cameras from 1981 - present - I’ll be able to help you make sureyour camera is working correctly. Discuss light meters and also film types to get the effect you desire.
