In this course, we’ll cover many
foundational principles and
techniques to gain a firm grounding
in the art of Drawing. Students will
study master works and do a series of
different exercises
aimed at understanding gesture,
structure, basic forms
and simplification. We will learn
comparative measurement, plumb
lines, block-ins, terminator lines and
maybe even get into form turning
a.k.a. rendering. The juicy fun
stuff. There will be class discussions,
demos and personalized critiques.

Supplies:
18” x 24” Strathmore Sketchbook (Do NOT use Newsprint)
6B, 2B, B, 2H & 4H Graphite Pencils (Any Brand)
Kneaded Eraser
150 Grit Piece of Sandpaper
Measuring Stick (shish kebab skewer is fine)
Plumb Line (Appx 3’ String with weight attached to one end)
Utility Knife for sharpening
Drawing Board (or similar rigid support)
