Beginning Ceramics - Reid Nicholls


This class meets twice a week, Monday and Wednesday, for 3 weeks.
This 3-week, 6-class beginner course will provide a foundation in the art of ceramics using both:
- Hand building
- Wheel throwing
Demonstrations at the beginning of class will focus on techniques such as:
- Soft slab construction
- Centering clay on the potter’s wheel
Students will learn:
- Basic surface decoration techniques
- How to adorn ceramic work
- How to finish pieces with glaze
Join us in a safe and supportive environment while learning to express yourself through clay.
At the end of this course, students will:
- Have a basic understanding of ceramic processes
- Take home finished glazed ceramics
This class is for:
- Beginners with no ceramics experience
- Students looking for a ceramics refresher course
Prerequisites
- None
Supplies
Please bring:
- An apron
- A notebook
- Pen or pencil
All other tools and materials will be provided.
There is a $50 materials fee which includes:
- Clay
- Tools
- Glazes

Reid Nicholls
Reid Nicholls is a ceramic artist and sculptor whose body of work uses symbolic imagery paired with figurative elements to create abstract forms that are hand-built and wheel thrown.
