Instructor: Lyle Colombo
Claude Monet said that "Light is the most important person in the picture." The way light wraps around physical shapes is what defines them to our eye. In this course, we will learn how to draw with light. Each meeting will begin with short, guided exercises in drawing, during which time we will review the basic design elements of the visual arts and practice the five perceptual skills needed for drawing. The class will culminate in a self-portrait. This course is suitable for all skill levels; no prior drawing experience is needed.

Louisiana native Lyle Colombo paints portraits, landscapes, and works of abstract realism in oil on panel using traditional techniques. She continually seeks new ways to make representational painting, particularly the figure, relevant to the contemporary world.
