Students aged 7-9 will learn the basics of color theory (primary, secondary, warm, and cool colors); the concepts of foreground, middle ground, and background; and the design principles of pattern, repetition, and contrast. Students will learn how to create perspective and enhance their drawing skills through observation. We will explore works of art from various periods. Fun, guided writing exercises will allow the children to experiment with poetry (meaning, rhyme, and rhythm) and storytelling (characterization, setting, and plot).
All supplies are included in the supply fee.
Louisiana native Lyle Colombo paints portraits, landscapes, and works of abstract realism in oil on panel using traditional techniques. She continually seeks new ways to make representational painting, particularly the figure, relevant to the contemporary world.
