In this class you will learn to sculpt flowers and plants, and how to create a layered botanical scene with depth in clay.
Students will choose their own subject by bringing reference photos of the flowers and plants they want to depict.* In the first class we will focus on designing a scene using the flowers and plants in your reference photos.
Students will learn clay sculpting techniques, how to create textures and represent depth in the sculptural form of a relief.
Clay relief sculptures will be fired, and the final class will focus on finishing techniques using paint and wax to enhance the sculpted forms and bring color to the fired work.
All levels are welcome!
There will be individual attention to each student's project and needs within a supportive class environment.
*Students supply their own reference photos of the plants and flowers they would like to work with (yes, you may include insects and birds as well!).
Suggestions for photos will be sent to students prior to the class.
Photos can be on a digital device for the first class.

Heidi is a mixed-media sculpture and installation artist trained in traditional figure sculpting techniques.
