Join us for an immersive one-day workshop where you’ll discover the enchanting world of cyanotype, one of the oldest photographic printing processes! This hands-on class is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike who want to explore the beauty of blueprints.
What You’ll Learn:
~ Introduction to Cyanotype: Understand the history and chemistry behind this captivating process, invented in the 19th century by Sir John Herschel.
~ Materials and Preparation: Learn about the essential materials, including light-sensitive chemicals, paper, and various objects you can use to create your designs.
~ Creating Your Artwork: Dive into the creative process as you coat paper with cyanotype solution, arrange natural materials, and create your own unique compositions.
~ Exposure Techniques: Discover how to expose your prints to sunlight and experiment with different exposure times to achieve various shades of blue.
~ Washing and Finishing: Examine techniques used for rinsing and finishing your prints, and learn how to preserve your artwork.
What to Bring:
~ A notebook and pen for taking notes
~ Any personal objects (leaves, flowers, etc.) you’d like to use in your designs
~ An apron or clothes you don’t mind getting messy
~ Lunch (We will break for 30 min)
