Description: This course is based on the twelve-week program in Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, an art educator who believed that drawing has little to do with natural talent and that anyone could learn to do it. Edwards explains the perceptive shift away from verbal, analytic processing toward a right-brained mode of processing visual information that is non-verbal and concrete. In this course, the instructor will guide students through exercises Edwards developed to help us shift from left- to right-mode visual processing. During this course, students will complete a variety of drawing projects, culminating in a self-portrait. Suitable for all levels.

Louisiana native Lyle Colombo paints portraits, landscapes, and works of abstract realism in oil on panel using traditional techniques. She continually seeks new ways to make representational painting, particularly the figure, relevant to the contemporary world.
